The minimum age for participation is 12 years old.

The Swissôtel Vertical Marathon is a race for individuals with a high level of physical fitness. In consideration for the safety of all participants, expectant mothers are also not advised to participate.

If you are not sure of your physical condition, please consult your doctor before submitting your registration form. Swissôtel The Stamford and its appointed organizers reserve the right to refuse entry to participants deemed unwell or unfit.

A confirmation slip will be sent to the email address provided at time of registration.

You should receive the confirmation email within three working days upon successful registration. Otherwise, you may log in to the registration portal with your email address and password to retrieve it. Alternatively, you may contact us at info@swissotelverticalmarathon.com for assistance.

Yes. You may do so via the Participants’ Login Page here. Please note that you will not be able to change the following details:

  • Race Category
  • Email Address
  • Full Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Gender

Participants will have to contact us at info@swissotelverticalmarathon.com to amend the above changes. However, please note that an administrative fee of S$15 will be incurred to make any changes required.

Changing of race category is subject to availability; An administrative fee of S$15 will be incurred for any changes made. All requests for change must be made in writing to info@swissotelverticalmarathon.com. Telephone and verbal notifications will not be accepted. Kindly note that all changes to race categories will not be accepted after 23 October 2017.

Registration on race day is subject to availability for each category. Kindly contact us at info@swissotelverticalmarathon.com to check on availability if you would like to do so. Participants who wish to register for the event on Race Day must do so at least 30minutes before their choice category.

A S$30 administrative fee will be applicable for the replacement of the race bib and MYLAPS tag. The replacement bib and MYLAPS tag can be collected at the information booth on race day. You may contact us at info@swissotelverticalmarathon.com. Kindly note that both race bib and MYLAPS tag need to be replaced even if only one of the two items are missing. The race bib and MYLAPS tag need not be returned to the Organiser.

Kindly note that customization of race bibs (i.e name on race bib etc) will not be available for replacement race bibs and MYLAPS tags.

Race Details

The Swissôtel Vertical Marathon will be held at Swissôtel The Stamford on Sunday, 19 November 2017.

Participants will have to scale 1,336 steps, up 73 storeys
The Half Vertical Marathon only consists of 31 storeys

The race is open to the public and the categories comprise of:

  • Sunrise Team Challenge
  • Buddies and Besties Challenge
  • Men’s Open
  • Women’s Open
  • Men’s Veteran (over 40 years)
  • Women’s Veteran (over 40 years)
  • Men’s Local (Singapore Citizens and PRs only)
  • Women’s Local (Singapore Citizens and PRs only)
  • Half Vertical Marathon, Individual

The minimum age for participation is 12 years old.

All participants are encouraged to complete the race at the top of the helipad, where they will receive a finisher medal. However a cut off time of 45 minutes will be imposed for all participants.

Participants will be flagged off in batches of not more than 6 participants each, at 20-second intervals.

Yes, you may hold onto the railings or take breaks during the race. However, please be mindful of other participants ascending the stairwell.

Latecomers are allowed to participate but they will however not be entitled to the prizes.

Team timings will be an average of the combined timings of two participants of the same team.

You will still be allowed to compete, however you will not receive any timing results or be entitled to any prizes.

You will have to bring along a print-out of your (1) confirmation slip that was emailed to you after your registration was completed and your (2) NRIC or passport.

Participants under the age of 18 must also bring along the signed indemnity form.

You will receive a race pack containing a Swissôtel Vertical Marathon 2017 participant t-shirt, race bib, MYLAPS tag and an assortment of premium products from the sponsors.

Yes, you can authorise someone to collect your race pack if you are unable to do so on 4 November 2017. The authorised person must bring along the following documents:

  1. The completed authorisation letter,
  2. His/her identification card,
  3. A print-out of participant’s confirmation email and,
  4. A photocopy of the participant’s identification card.

About The Race

All participants are allowed to remain on the Helipad for 5 minutes. Participants may take a breather whilst taking in the captivating panoramic views of Singapore. Bottled water will be provided.

The hydration points are located at the start and finish points.

No, we do not provide lunch for participants.

Please ensure that you have your race bib and MYLAPS tag. Participants will not be allowed to race if either one of these items are missing.

Participants who cross the finish line will each receive the following items.

  • Finisher Medal
  • Personalised e-certificate to be available for download 2 weeks after the race

Participants can lodge an appeal by filling up the appeal form at the Information Counter within 15 minutes after the release of the results. A fee of S$50 will have to be paid upfront before the appeal can be processed.

The appeal will be handled by the Appeal Committee consisting of the Event Operations Director, the Race Director, Timing coordinator and the manual timer.
The appeal will be addressed within half an hour after the appeal has been lodged. In the event that the appeal is successful, the S$50 will be refunded to the appellant.

Athlete Support During the Race

The medical station is located on every 7th floor, start, finish and exit points.

Others

Yes, you will be allowed 5 minutes for photo-taking at the Helipad. Kindly note that the Organisers shall not be liable for any loss or damage of personal property.

Stop for assistance at one of the medical stations along the course if you feel like you cannot carry on with the race, you can leave the stairway via the exit at each level.

If the event has not started, the race will be delayed. However, if it rains during the race, participants who are enroute will be able to continue the race and complete at an alternative finishing point. For participants who have not started, the race will be delayed until further notice. Should inclement weather persist, the event will unfortunately be cancelled with consideration to the safety of participants.

Should the race be cancelled, please note that the registration fee is non-refundable.

Yes, results will be updated on the website at www.swissotelverticalmarathon.com within the week after the race.

As the safety of all participants is of utmost importance to us, the race will be cancelled in the event of persistent inclement weather, a PSI level above 200 and/or any other acts of God that could affect the well being of participants.

Should the race be cancelled, please note that the registration fee is non-refundable.
